The Galconomist Salon: Wisdom, at Lightning Society
Tuesday, October 13 · 6:30 to 8:30pm

The Galconomist Salon: Wisdom

Lightning Society, 45 Howard St, SoHo
Presented by Lightning Society · Tea will be served

We have never had more information and less wisdom. We can ask a machine any question and get an answer in seconds, so we have started outsourcing our judgment to something that has never lived. Meanwhile the people who carry earned knowledge, our elders, our traditions, the ones who learned things the slow way, get scrolled past.

This time we’re trying something new. Speakers from very different worlds will each take five minutes to share their craft and the wisdom behind it, and then we open it up to the room.

  • Geetika Agrawal, founder of VAWAA (Vacation With An Artist), which sends travelers to learn from master artists around the world.
  • Lisa Ginzburg, founder of Changa Institute, the first government-accredited psilocybin facilitator training program in the US.
  • Plus a surprise guest.

You don’t need to bring anything, just your curiosity. Space is limited.

How to Play: more fun and more joy, a Lifeshop workshop
Tuesday, October 27 · 8 to 10pm

How to Play

Lifeshop with The Galconomist
199 N 8th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

When was the last time you did something for no reason at all? Not to get fitter, get ahead, or get a good photo out of it. Just because it was fun.

We track our sleep, our steps and our screen time, and somewhere along the way most of us stopped playing. Inspired by The Play Issue, Lifeshop founder Alex Simon will help us work out how we want to play, what gets in the way, and how to bring more of it back into everyday life.

Early bird tickets from $40.
